Getting Used to Things

It was very strange to share a room with three girls. I've only shared a room with my sis when I was younger, so I am glad that I knew what was to come (Even though it was still strange). It wasn't a big deal, and you will get used to it pretty fast. When we arrived to the hotel, we all crowded together in the lobby and Adrian (our leader) gave us our hotel keys! I think I still have mine lol. I was assigned to room 502 (I think) and I looked to see who will be sharing the room with me. Annabelle, Brook, Annabelle's friend (I still don't remember her name) and then me. I never looked for a hotel room by my own before, because I relied on my parents. I'm trying my best to be more independent so I can be prepared for what is to come after graduating. This trip was definitely a big step for me and I'm glad that I did it.

Adrian told us we can get settled and meet in an hour or so to go over what we are going to do today.

Before heading off, we got lunch. There were food trucks outside our hotel, so we just got food from there and ate in the lobby. I decided to get a chicken quesadilla. It was really good and only costs less than $10.

An hour or so passed, and we were in the lobby again. It was time to go to the metro and head to the Basilica of The National Shrine of The Immaculate Conception.

The Metro in D.C. wasn't as hectic as I thought it would be. Of course, there were people but it was easy to get on and off.

It was 2:54 when everyone was almost done eating.

Now it is ready to head to the shrine.

There was going to be Mass, so we were going to be there for a while. It took an average 2 hours and we left.

Mass tarted at 5:30 PM and ended around 7. We didn't get there in time to be able to have a seat, so we had to sit on the ground. Sitting on the ground is hard for me, but I survived. Lol. I was wearing a sweatshirt and I didn't realize that someone could see my scar with the sweatshirt I wore! Someone in my group told me the next day and everything was alright afterwards. I often don't tell people about my scar, because it is a personal thing, but I decided to text everyone in my group a warning if they see a scar on my back: that it is from a surgery I had a few years ago. That was a little uncomfortable to text, but I felt like I had to let everyone know, since someone saw it during Mass when I was sitting down. I hope no one else saw my scar except the person who did. I did not wear that sweatshirt on the rest of the trip. Lol.

We got out from the back of the church, but I had to get a drink, because I was so thirsty. There was no water in the vending machine, so I just got a Coke.

We all headed outside and hung out for a while. We walked for a bit and then found a restaurant and had dinner there. It was just a sandwich shop. I got a basic turkey club.

It was crowded there as well, so I had to wait until someone got out of their seat, so I could take it.

We got back to the hotel around 9 pm and got back to the hotel.
